Pachamama

Dock Space Gallery Annex is pleased to announce the 2nd Saturday Exhibit for January, PACHAMAMA, a four person exhibit by Libby Rowe, Joan Fabian, Veronica Jaeger and Sarah Castillo. The exhibit celebrates the divine feminine and explores aspects of self associated with nature, creation, femininity and matriarchal roles.
Libby Rowe is an artist working in photography, sculpture, interactive installation, and performance. Her artwork explores ideas of identity and belonging through self-definitions as informed by social and domestic constructs. Rowe is Assistant Professor and Head of Photography at University of Texas at San Antonio where she serves as Graduate Advisor of Record.
Joan Fabian is an artist who was born in Chicago and currently lives and works in San Antonio, Texas. She attended the Art Institute of Chicago for her BFA and received her MFA at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Fabian has worked for over 30 years as a professional contemporary artist documenting colorfully abstracted memories of places and experiences.
Veronica Jaeger is a Venezuelan born artist living in deep south Texas on the border with Mexico. Her work depicts playful scenarios and characters by incorporating imaginary portraits, anthropomorphic houses, and elements of nature, all intertwined with cultural universal spiritual beliefs, but with a touch of the absurd. She is a lecturer at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
Art, identity, and mental health are central to Sarah Castillo’s work as an interdisciplinary Chicana feminist artist based in San Antonio, Texas working in mixed media and portraiture. Castillo obtained her Master’s degree in Bicultural Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio and is currently a co-Director at Clamp Light Studios & Gallery.
Opening reception for Pachamama will be held on 2nd Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 7-10PM at Dock Space Gallery Annex in the Lone Star Arts District located on 107 Lone Star Blvd. San Antonio, TX 78204. Gallery is open by appointment only, contact Bill FitzGibbons at 210-723-3048.
