Presa House Gallery is proud to present “Four Rooms,” the exhibition features four Texas-based artists chosen and given a dedicated space to transform the gallery into a series of installations. Each artist responded in their chosen aesthetic and medium to complement the different areas of the home and invite guests to step into their world to create a uniquely immersive experience. “Four Rooms” will be on view by appointment February 7 through February 29, 2020, with an opening reception First Friday, February 7, from 6 to 11 pm.
Corpus Christi-based artist Jennifer Arnold integrates photography, and her signature canvas peels to create life-sized 2D sculptural works of garments, and home furnishings that will be mounted and suspended in space. Originally from the Rio Grande Valley, Corpus Christi-based, designer, and illustrator, Alexandria Canchola uses a combination of cardboard, gouache paint, and bold color to create a playful 3-D atmosphere. With an incredible focus and attention invested in each object, Canchola showcases the power our belongings manifest in expressing who we are. San Antonio native and multidisciplinary artist, Loot Achris aka Lauri Garcia Jones immersive mixed-media installation, features vivid color palettes cartoon-like forms and graffiti styles to ignite imagination and a sense of wonder, creating a disconnect from reality, relative to the outside world. Audrey LeGalley addresses themes of femininity, mental health, and homemaking. Through domestic materials, including frames, wallpaper, and furniture, Audrey breaks down interior design in a metaphorical capacity. Using porcelain recreations of furnishings, Audrey removes the structural and supportive qualities of an object. She leaves an idea and a shell-creating narrative and communicating anxious histories.
