About the artist:
Audrey LeGalley is a Texas raised artist who uses porcelain and fibers to explore themes of anxiety, fragility and domesticity. Drawing on childhood memories and experiences she discusses familial relationships and emotional structures through sculptures and compositions.
Audrey received her BFA in Studio Art from The Southwest School of Art in April 2018 where she was awarded “Best in Show” for her work in the Thesis exhibition. Audrey has exhibited throughout Texas at spaces including: Bluestar Contemporary, The Greater Denton Arts Council, and The Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. In Summer 2019, Audrey completed a residency at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. She is currently pursuing her MFA in Ceramics at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
About the exhibition:
“on going home” is a new series of work in which Audrey addresses themes of femininity, mental health and homemaking. Through domestic materials including fabric, porcelain, wallpaper and found furniture, Audrey breaks down interior design to use furniture in a metaphorical capacity. Through re-creation of objects, Audrey removes structural and supportive qualities of furniture, leaving an idea and shell of the object- in this, creating narrative, and communicating anxious histories through fragmented installations and drawings.
