In Conversation with Isaac Julien

To complement and give audiences a deeper understanding of his seminal multi-channel work, Western Union: Small Boats, which is currently on view at Ruby City, artist Isaac Julien will be in conversation with Director Elyse A. Gonzales and Cantor Arts Center, Assistant Curator of Photography and New Media Maggie Dethloff on Tuesday, February 9th at 3 pm. Both institutions have this work currently installed and are eager to share this related film, as well as insights from this internationally-acclaimed artist, with their audiences.

This public program will be preceded by an online film screening of The Leopard, a single screen film related to Western Union: Small Boats that poetically examines the treacherous and clandestine journey many Africans make crossing the ocean to reach Europe in search of better lives. The film will be on view from Friday, February 5th-10th. To tune in please visit Ruby City’s YouTubeFacebook or AppleTV app.
