
“Destroy White Supremacy” Opening
On July 4th, 2019 Black Dot Studio will proudly present “Destroy White Supremacy,” an exhibit and an opening event promoting the concept of destroying white supremacy and exploring white supremacy’s permeating influence on our past and present culture. This show consists of a diverse collection of San Antonio artists’ artwork challenging the existence of white supremacy and will be on view until Saturday, July 20th, 2019.
The opening event will take place Thursday, July 4th, 2019 from 6:00PM-12:00 AM. At the
opening, visitors will be able to view artwork by featured San Antonio artists including Oluwat Akinyemi, Maria J. Alvarado, Navy Azul, Eve Davis, Austin Farar, Gerardo Garcia, Excy Guardado, Christine Leann, Norbert Martinez, Linda Monsivias, and Ricardo Saenz. Throughout the night there will be performance pieces created by artists Javier Bazaldua and Wildhoneypot as well as musical performances by Dubb, Amygdala, and DJ Jevonchi. The opening night event will be hosted by Kimiya Factory of #CHANGERAPECULTURE and will include a panel discussion exploring ways of how the panelists combat white supremacy in their work; the panelists include Katerina Tsvelkova from #CHANGERAPECULTURE, Kai R. from NWAZine, community activist Alexandria De Luna, Angela Pardo, and women’s health advocate Gladys P.
