Contemporary Art 101

Grab a friend and join us for Contemporary Art 101 — Creating, Collecting, and Preserving Video Art !

Blue Star Contemporary invites you to join the dialogue at a panel discussion focused on creating, collecting, and preserving contemporary video art, inspired by the video work in our spring 2019 exhibition Effort Economy.

Soon after video equipment was made available to the public in the 1960s, artists began using this medium for artistic expression. This conversation brings together professionals whose work brings value to this growing and evolving discipline.

Panelists:
R. Eric McMaster, Effort Economy exhibiting artist
Kelly O’Connor, Head of Collections and Communications, Ruby City
Jennifer Stob, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Art History, Texas State University
Itza Carbajal, Latin American Metadata Librarian, Benson Latin American Collection, UT Austin
Moderated by Jaqueline Saragoza McGilvray, Curator and Exhibitions Manager, BSC
