Christie Blizard: The Angel
Christie Blizard: The Angel
FROM THE ARTIST
“In my performances, I wear 3D printed masks of celebrities Scarlett Johansson and Elle Fanning who symbolize empty vessels that my alien, Sinusoidal, can enter. I contrast my own body with these celebrities through the aid of a mask and costumes. In doing so, I relate my new body directly to that of the cyborg, drawing heavily from Donna Haraway’s posthumanist, feminist essay The Cyborg Manifesto (1985). The cyborg disturbs mainstream dualisms by offering a body that cannot be fully one thing or the other, as we are all a container of mediation, violence, and multiplicity.”
